With the new policy change, announced to many employees on Monday, Amazon joined a slew of companies in technology and several other industries that have just recently expanded their family-leave policies in an effort to attract and retain other employees. Under this new policy, many birth mothers have now been entitled to a total of 20 weeks of paid maternity leave, this including four weeks of paid leave before the baby's actual arrival. The company also said that the benefits apply to all full-time hourly and salaried employees, this including more than 100,00 customer service and fulfillment center workers. Amazon also said employees' restricted stock will continue to vest more during the time off. Also they will allow primary caregivers to ease back into work by working part time for up to eight weeks after returning to the job.
